WHAT IS GICLEE?*
Artists
throughout time have used the prevailing technology to make reproductions of
their original work. At one time it
was aquatints, now it may be a stylus attached to a digitalized pad. It is just part of the artistic process.
The Giclee printing process is the premier method for reproducing art today.,
combining original art and state of the art technology.
The IRIS printer and its successor, the IXIA, are capable of spraying
millions of microscopic droplets of in per second. These dots are so small that
each droplet can only be viewed under a microscope; the human eye only registers
a slow tonal gradation.
The
result of this new technology is a reproduction of the artist’s work which
truly captures his or her original intent. There is an unbelievable saturation and depth of color, producing
a beautiful finished product worthy of the respective artists and art collectors
alike.
The
inks used in Giclee printers are water based and are combined with 100% cotton
fiber paper or canvas. This combination insures that the process is nontoxic and
environmentally safe and the resulting prints are accurate and long-lasting.
