"Spirit of the Elbe"

     The painting was commissioned in 1995 by a US-Russia based company to commemorate the historic meeting of the Russian and American armies at Torgau, Germany in 1945.  The painting ,by Anne Burgess Rowe, is based on a Life Magazine photo of Lt. Alexander Sylvashko and Lt. Bill Robertson.  The original painting was intended as a gift to the Russian people from the American people and presently hangs in the World War II Museum in Moscow, dedicated in 1995 in the presence of President Bill Clinton.  For more information on this limited edition Lithograph, click here.
